The Last Goodnight Week: Good Love |
Originally we started the writing process with the intention for Macy Gray to duet this song with me. Unfortunately that idea fell through early in the process, but we liked where the song was going and decided to stick with it.
Good Love allowed us to push our music in a more soulful direction for the first time. It's such a fun song to sing, and I can tell that translates well to our fans every night. When we're up there, all having fun on stage, it's really easy for the audience to relax and have fun with us, which is really what going to a concert is all about.. having fun.

Radiohead 1.2 Million Downloads |
Of course, the Kanye number is just for U.S. sales and we have to assume the Radiohead number is global but for an album to sell a million copies in one day with a radical new sales model should send shockwaves through the music industry. Here is the Gigwise report: Gigwise has learnt that Radiohead have sold an amazing 1.2 million copies of their seventh album 'In Rainbows.'
The band and their long-term management company Courtyard Management have remained tight lipped about the exact sales figures, seemingly in a bid to add to keep a mysterious air around the album.
But speaking to a source close to the band last night, we've discovered that the Oxford band have achieved this monumental sales figure. Even if every person who downloaded the album paid just 10 pence, the band will still rake in a massive £120,000.- more on this story
Bassist Severs Foot During Show |
During their album launch party at The Borderline, Maskell thought it would be a good idea to go crowd surfing. On his way back to the stage, he landed on a wine glass and suffered a 7inch laceration to his left foot.
Amazing he continued with the gig, performing their song 'Up & Down'. It was only when a nurse got up on the stage that an ambulance was called and he was whisked to St Thomas' hospital.- more on this story
Label Sues Perez Hilton Over Leaky Britney |
Attorneys for Zomba Recording LLC, which owns the copyrights to Britney Spears' recordings, filed suit in federal court in Los Angeles today charging the online gossip website PerezHilton.com and its proprietor Mario Lavandeira with illegally obtaining and posting recordings by Spears.
The suit accuses Lavandeira of infringing Zomba's copyrights by posting at least 10 completed tracks and unfinished demos from Ms. Spears' upcoming album, "Blackout," over the past three months. "Blackout" was originally scheduled to be released on Nov. 13 but because of internet leaks, Ms. Spears' label Jive Records announced yesterday it was moving up the release date to Oct. 30.- more on this story

Major Acts Leaving Major Labels |
Looks like the Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails incidents weren't an isolated action. Now, pop star Madonna has apparently joined the free agent fray and has signed directly with a concert promoter rather than a label. Other popular acts including Jamiroquai and Oasis are also reporting muling over direct sales.
While this may seem like remarkable news for some, it should be noted that these are major acts with significant clout. While they may be able to eschew the label system, in all cases they've reached the plateau they've reached because of major label promotion which has supported them for more than a decade. Put it simply, these bands are already grown up, so the real question, particularly on this site, is whether a new band can grow without a label and the hype/promotion machine that brings.- more on this story
Help! is Delayed |
Directed by Richard Lester, who also directed the band's debut feature film 'A Hard Days Night', 'Help!' made its theatrical debut in 1965. The story follows The Beatles as they become passive recipients of an outside plot that revolves around Ringo's possession of a sacrificial ring, which he cannot remove from his finger. As a result, he and his bandmates John, Paul and George are chased from London to the Austrian Alps and the Bahamas by religious cult members, a mad scientist and the London police.
In addition to starring the Beatles, 'Help!'
has a witty script, a great cast of British character actors and features
7 classic Beatles tracks, including: 'Help!'
'You're Going To Lose That Girl' 'You've
Got To Hide Your Love Away' 'Ticket To Ride' 'I Need You' 'The Night Before'

Santa on Viagra with Carol Brady as Ho Puts the X in Xmas |
The Dan Band's live repertoire includes a catalog of songs, heretofore, associated with women from Erykah Badu to Christina Aguilera The idea that was devised by Finnerty in 1999, initially as a karaoke performance, rose to national prominence with their infamous profanity-laced version of Bonnie Tyler's 1983 "Total Eclipse of The Heart" performed in the movie Old School, starring Will Ferrell. The Village Voice has said "Finnerty's performance borders on the genius."
This holiday season, for the first time, The Dan Band presents a collection of original material with the release of Ho on Reincarnate Records, through Dave Matthew's ATO Records label. The album includes the very sentimental track "I Wanna Rock U Hard This Christmas" as well as "Get Drunk and Make Out This Christmas" the ecumenical "Chrismakwanzakah" and Dan's heartfelt plea for peace "Please Don't Bomb Nobody This Holiday" and seven other songs that are destined to become seasonal standards in the tradition of "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Silver Bells" and "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." A video for "I Wanna Rock U Hard This Christmas" features Florence Henderson of Brady Bunch fame in the role of Dan's drunken, randy grandmother, whose relationship with Santa Claus appears fueled by Viagra-infused mistletoe- tour dates and video link
antiMusic Welcomes Lonn Friend |
Tony K said to write about music. Sometimes I forget that's why I am who I am. So yes this will be about music and not the dropping of names begetting fortune and fame and more often than not shame. This is about gratitude. I was telling Katie the story over dinner post our HAIR experience at the tiny old theater in Hollywood. The revival is on, big time. Forty years later, resurrected on the stage by the new kids on the sociocultural block, the songs remain the same and then some. They let the sunshine in and each one of the packed house was a hippie again. Sara Mann is one of the many tie dyed braless power throated sirens in the production. I met her when she was 21 singing background vocals for Harry Belafonte New Year's Eve 1999. In Vegas. The last performance at the Bally's Showroom before they built Paris and turned the venue into a hallway connecting the two properties.
One point, act two; Sara has the 'great gig in the sky' Pink Floyd wail spotlight. Like Lisa when the Stones launch into the final ride home on "Gimme Shelter." Woman in the throes of vocal orgasm, nothing finer. Gives me chills from the second chakra on up. Anyway, Katie worships Tori Amos and I gently relate my 16-year relationship with the red head faerie seeking ivory diddler. With humility of course, I recall the night we drank in my office at RIP after dinner at the Palm. I extorted her presence because I had the advance cassette of the new Jimmy Page/David Coverdale project. And Tori cut her masturbatory teeth while listening to Led Zeppelin. In the interview Cameron Crowe conducted with me (this an act of love not extortion) for the Album Network tip sheet in 1993, I called Tori 'the other gender Peter Gabriel.' She has not left L.A. on any tour stop since without seeing my smiling face. In recent years, her star has swelled to so supernova bright, face time is not exactly easy to come by. Add to that the evolution of her myth, radio and MTV ignored since inception, she is the epitome of an organic musical miracle. - Read the full article including Tony's intro
