Wormwood used their metalcore with one driving ambition to profess their Christian faith, while this may turn some people off Fans of Christian hard core will find a lot to love here. The band stays true to the genre only to a point, the vocals are primal screams with the occasional melodic vocal sneaking in and the bass and guitars stay consistant but the guitars break away from the power-chord driven sound at times entering the land of progressive rock and metal and even experimental jazz. While the guitar deviations are only used sparingly it gives the music something that helps set it apart from other metalcore bands otherwise it would be hard to differentiate Wormwood from most run of the mill hardcore bands that employ metal riffage. Worth exploring if you're into metalcore and the Christian message in the lyrics doesn't turn you off.
