"Requia" is the debut album from Santa Barbara, California's modern rock powerhouse Gravity Willing. Listening to the music it's hard to believe that this band has only been together since 2000. They have a solid musical foundation, great melodic guitar driven tracks that encompass a variety of music styles all mixed into a modern rock format. They have a lot more to offer musically than the typical modern rock band. The drums standout with their progressive feel, they used just the right amount of guitars to give the songs power without sacrificing melody and vocalist Nick de Sieyes sounds like a cross between Scott Stapp and the soulful vocals of Living Colour's Corey Glover. Don't worry about the Stapp comparison, Nick doesn't fall into the monotonous baritone of Creed, he shows a lot more range and produces some really dynamic vocals on the songs here. Excellent songwriting and musicianship make Gravity Willing a band to watch for in the future.
