Gone is the "Methods of Mayhem" moniker, Tommy realized that he had a better shot at solo success using his own name. But for those who know Tommy from his work with Motley Crue should be advised that his solo work is pretty far removed from the Motley sound (with the exception the Crue's self-titled album which has some similar elements).
So do we get anything new and interesting with this album that differs from Tommy's last guest heavy solo effort where he tried to reinvent himself as Trent Reznor? The short answer is not really. Tommy still seems tuned in to latching on to whatever seems to be hip at the moment and the result is a bad mix of "dull" Linkin Park meets Limp Bizkit mixed with NIN throwaways.
Yes Tommy says he played most of the instruments here and it shows. The one area where he has a proven track record, on the drums, he totally misses the opportunity to shine and instead opts for an over reliance on sampling and inane techno beats.
The absolute low point here is Tommy's rap heavy remake of the David Bowie classic "Fame", for this reason alone Tommy should be shot. Take that song off the album and it might be workable but then again Tommy doesn't offer anything but a B or C grade rip off the material that current bands like Linkin Park already produce that is far better.
His life may never have a dull moment but
this album is full of them.
