The title of this album is very appropriate. "Mysterious Ways" is a journey into the realm of new age jazz. A primarily instrumental piece by Michael Whalen, to the listener could be compared to a Feng Shui for the ears. The balance of tracks on this piece keeps the album running smoothly. Although the influence is jazz, there are hints of R& B throughout the album. On the few vocal pieces, Ray Greene brings a soulful, R & B flavor into the jazz pieces. Something that isn't all that common on instrumental new age jazz compilations such as this. For the jazz lover, this is definitely a must listen album.
