When I put this CD in I was actually surprised. While Five Point O is cut from a similar mold as other Roadrunner artists, they are different enough to stand out from the pack and command some attention. Sure they fit into what has been labeled "nu-metal", low-tuned guitars churning out powerchords mixed with the primal screaming vocals of hard-core but Five Point O take a slightly different approach which lands them closer into the territory of trailblazing music pioneers Faith No More (something many bands claim to do but fail to accomplish!)
The songs are well executed and finely crafted and unlike some of Five Point O's contemporaries the songs are different enough from each other that they don't become redundant after a few songs. The vocal treatment alternates between melodic and primal, during the predominant melodic parts vocalist Daniel Struble sounds strikingly similar to Systematic.
Like I said the music strays outside the traditional "nu-metal" lines at many points making this a far superior effort. The bottom line, Five Point O bring something new and different to the plate and are well worth your attention to see if their music does it for you.
