I really like this cd, usually Christian punk is not my thing, but I make a small exception for this cd. Out of all 6 songs, only one didn't really do it for me, the song "proposal" is a bit slower than the rest and really brings the pace to a screeching halt. The other songs are very catchy, all of them well written.
The biggest standout in this cd is the music, it's mostly acoustic driven, which seems a little bizarre to me but the singers voice carries all the electricity the band needs. the music carries an almost country feel and on the song "I'll show the world" the band adapts a swing beat, which works great with the song. There is also a harmonica solo in "why cant I be on MTV" which hands down is my favorite track on this cd, its deadly accurate in its imagery of the role of MTV in today's pop culture. In whole the lyrics are smart and well thought out but there is a touch of the clichéd themes of girls and high school, but not enough to ruin any of the songs.
If you like punk music that is a little
different from the usual offerings, or ya think Jesus is more punk than
anyone, this is a good album for you.
