Mix Korn and Glassjaw and you get 36 Crazyfists one of the newest bands to emerge from the kings of nu-metal, Roadrunner Records. Unlike some other Roadrunner bands like ill nino and Chimaira, 36 Crazyfist actually differentiate themselves from the pack.
Sure the music is the basic nu-metal formula with pretty typical rhythms and an abundance of massively distorted guitars but 36 Crazyfists have a more melodic side they are not afraid to show and it really gives the music a nice contrast from the usual "nu-metal" pack. The vocals have a bit of a "freak on a leash" feel to them, which if you are a fan of Korn will give you an immediate reason to like these guys.
The bottom line, this band is a different enough to merit attention and nu-metal fans should like what they hear. If you aren't into nu-metal then it's not likely these guys will change your mind, then again, their mix of melody and power might open some eyes, so I won't rule that out. I'm not a huge nu-metal fan but found myself enjoying what I heard here, so if it can open my jaded ears it must have something going for it!
