If you listen to classic rock radio chances are you will know most of the songs in this collection (with the exception of the new tracks). America made a big splash with contemporary music fans in the 70's with their unique country rock sound. From their epic "Horse with No Name" to the tale of chivalry in "Tin Man" and the electrifying "Sister Golden Hair", America's music is still in heavy rotation on radio to this day. Complete Greatest Hits is really a scaled down, more affordable little brother to "Highway 30 Years of America" box set that was released by Rhino last year. Die-hard fans should own both collections. Complete Greatest Hits for the two new tracks and Highway for the excellent full color booklet that accompanies the release along with the 3 full length CD's that contains almost every notable song America ever recorded as well as demos and alternate mixes.
Casual fans should really enjoy this compilation; it contains all of the hits from the 70's as well as their monster comeback hit from the 80's "You Can Do Magic".
Diehard fans will do well to pick up this release for the two new songs. World Of Light and Paradise both live up to the band's history with their lush arrangements, rich vocals and squeaky-clean production.
Finally anyone who has even a passing interest
in the music of America should find this compilation a great introduction
to their music.
