Puya, the Latin nu-metal superstars are
back with the follow up to their 1999 release "Fundamental". This new album
finds the band once more mixing Latin sounds with Rap-core and nu-metal.
It's that Latin spin that separates these guys from the already overcrowed
field of rap-core and nu-metal bands. While many of the bands they are
competing with for fans are all starting sound alike PUYA offers a little
of the same with a nice little twist that helps them stand out from the
pack. Sure you get the mindnubbing drop tuned monotonous power-chords but
it's balanced against some intricate Latin styling. If you liked
"Fundamental" chances are good, you'll like this CD as well. If you are
looking for PUYA to breakout of the mold, you might be disappointed. But
overall, these guys stand a notch above their contemporaries. If you're
a nu-metal/rap core fan looking for something familiar yet a little different
check these guys out.
