From this CD's cover you might expect yet another white boy wanna be hip-hop group trying to prove they are "hard". Sure there is plenty of hip-hop influence in the music but what saves this album in my opinion is this band doesn't overly depend on the "street beats" instead they go another direction with industrial metal.
I admit I got a soft spot in my heart for
the merging of industrial and hard rock from the mesmerizing sounds of
Nine Inch Nails to the full throttle hypnotizing drive of Rob Zombie, I
love this stuff. So Grand Theft Audio commands my respect with their
industrial beats and hard rock riffs that propel most of this album.
The downside are the brief departures from this formula when the band does
the obligatory mindless hip hop numbers, but you can easily fast forward
over those tracks to get to the good stuff. If you like the hard rock/industrial
sound you'll find plenty to love on seven of the ten tracks.
