F*** Avril! Throwing a few guitars into the mix doesn't not make a pop princesses a rocker and putting her into a skater-punk uniform doesn't either. With the Avril's and Kelly's purported to be the females representing rock it makes you scratch your head and ask can women really front a rock band in this day and age?  Sunset Arms answer the question loud and clear: YES!

Sunset Arms delivers a powerful metal assault musically and vocally frontwomen Amanda Carlson take the songs into a different direction with her Goth meets angry girl alterna rock style.

You can tell that this group is a work in progress and with the right production Sunset Arms could really be onto something. The weakest link is the vocals, which get about 80% there but need a little more refining. But this is far better than the almost comical vocals of Kittie.

The songs on this demo are raw due mostly to the vocals. The music itself is well executed although the vocals need some work, because it seems Amanda resorts to talking instead of singing most of the time and it gets a little tedious after a while.   Although I would venture to guess that this stuff really goes off live. Maybe with a budget and the right producer something special can emerge here and if they worked on the vocal melodies a little more to give them more variety to carry the songs. It will be interesting to see how this band evolves and develops.

Nevertheless, this is an interesting band and definitely different than what your used to.
