Tracks:
What do you get when you take such
a group as Groove Armada, who are responsible for a good portion of worldwide
club remixes and some of today's premiere DJ's & producers? The answer,
simplethe latest release from of Groove Armada entitled "Remixes" on Jive/Zomba
Records. The fast paced album of remixes is an eclectic blend of pop and
techno. No, this album will not leave your head throbbing days after you've
listened to all of the 10 tracks. And, you won't have that feeling of being
trapped in a perpetual Rave. Gears shift swiftly from track to track, keeping
the listener on their toes. The most impressive cut on the album, "Pre63"
by Akasha, which incorporates pop, fusion, techno and a bit of jazz with
its live saxophone in the mix. Other contributors such as DJ Icey, Attaboy,
Kinobe, MAD, Elephant & Tim "Love" Lee give the album a worldwide vibe.
If you go into the album with an open mind, and leave the stereotype of
the word "remix" in the jewlbox, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The album
may not be worthy of heavy rotation in one's personal CD player, but it's
great for those party occasions when fun music is a must. If nothing else,
Futureshock's reworking of this year's "I See you Baby", refrain: "shakin
that ass" will help bring this album into the new millenium as leader in
remix anthems.
