Desert Ranch Experience by Camel Safari

A long time ago, back when smoking was thought to be cool, there was a tobacco company that used the slogan "I'd walk a mile for a camel" to promote Camel cigarettes. The advertising campaign was so successful that the slogan became a catchphrase that was repeated incessantly and the Madison Avenue ad execs that came up with it were no doubt amply rewarded. In a stroke of unrelated genius the folks at Desert Ranch Experience by Camel Safari, near Las Vegas, will introduce you to real, friendly camels and you won't have to walk a mile.

Before you get the wrong idea about going out into the Mojave Desert in Nevada to get close to camels, know that the Desert Ranch Experience is actually a pretty glamorous affair. You may have seen the place on "The Bachelorette" or you may have read that actor Seth Rogen hosted a bachelor party there. The attraction comes in part from the exotic yet plush accommodations that await visitors, which include well-appointed Mongolian 'gers,' which are also known as 'yurts.' You'll have time to hang out in one of the gers if you visit for a day trip; if you choose the overnight stay you'll bed down in a ger for an awesome glamping experience. Officially the three options that visitors can choose from are the Adult Day Glamp Camp (five hours, two people), the Overnight Glamp Camp (up to four people) and the Family Day Glamp Camp (five hours, up to six people.)

Here's what you can expect if you choose the Overnight Glamp Camp experience:

-Overnight accommodations in an authentic private, climate-controlled ger.
-Mini-fridge stocked with waters and soft drinks.
-Desert animal encounter tour.
-Photo opportunity.
-Bactrian camel crafts.
-Catered private dinner.
-Nocturnal animal tour.
-Self-guided stargazing.
-Fireside activities including s'mores.
-Morning animal feeding.
-Private breakfast.
-An open-air vintage Army truck ride.

Besides the camels that you'll meet (not available for riding) there are plenty of other animals living on the ranch, including alpacas, armadillos, African crested porcupine and two-toed sloth. Toilets are not en suite; they are a short walk from your ger. Showers are not available and if you wish to upgrade to have linen in your ger there is an additional charge.
