Separations - Dream Eater

This Atlanta-based hard rock five-piece features both clean and death growl vocals on their songs and on title cut "Dream Eater" it may seem at first listen that the two styles are acting out a good vs evil scenario. That is what the song is about --- surviving the "dream eaters" of life --- but the scarily-growled vocals actually mimic the positive attitude of the bright and harmonized vocals. Both singing styles combine to good effect on the speedy "Promises," where tempo changes and keyboard effects turn the song into something that stands out from the norm. Plenty of woozy guitar and rat-a-tat drums to go around here on this impressive set, also highlighted by the slightly sludgy "Upper Hand" and the radio-ready gem "Yours Alone.
