Lita Ford - Time Capsule

Fans and Ford herself consider the '80s to be the era when her music was the most exciting, and fans can rejoice because that's when the 10 previously unreleased, previously unheard cuts on Time Capsule were recorded. There's a bit of an interesting back story to the record too; the master tapes that Time Capsule was culled from had been sitting in storage in Ford's Caribbean island home for years and years and when she first dug them out she didn't know if the tapes had deteriorated to the point where they could no longer be used. She lugged the tapes to Los Angeles where they underwent a preservation technique known as "baking" and lo and behold, now fans can hear this almost-lost rock 'n' roll treasure. The set is loaded with guest stars too, and the record opens with Ford sharing lead vocals with Jeff Scott Soto on the big ballad "Where Will I Find My Heart Tonight." Dave Navarro can be heard playing mandolin on "Killing Kind," a tune that also features Robin Zander and Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick on background vocals and there's no question the cut would have been a hit had it of been released back in the day. "Black Leather Heart" finds Lita rockin' in a Guns N' Roses mood but "Little Wing" is all blues rock guitar as Ford turns in a fine instrumental take on the Jimi Hendrix classic. Rodger Carter (Eddie Money, Rick Springfield) plays drums throughout and he thunders away between Lita's riffs on the album's other instrumental, "On the Fast Track." The album closes with the high-energy rock of "Anything for the Thrill," quite a fitting title considering what Ford went through to resurrect this great set and bring it to her fans.
