Jeff Healey - Heal My Soul

.
Heal My Soul is essentially a recording of brand new material even though Healey died eight years ago; the record's 12 cuts, all previously unheard by the public, were recently meticulously restored, remixed and mastered by the Healey estate. And they did a great job. There are four Healey originals (co-writes) on the record, one of which is "Daze of the Night," a full-out rocker that harkens back to the classic rock sound of the '70s (with cowbell!) "Baby Blue" is the softer side of Healey, performed with acoustic guitar as the lead instrument and with an emphasis on harmony vocals; a cover of Richard Thompson's "I Misunderstood" on the other hand moves to an electrified groove. The set also includes, of course, some awesome guitar showcases, like on the Hendrix-tinged "Please," the slow but sizzling "Temptation" and the funky, strutting "Put the Shoe on the Other Foot." Heal My Soul is a real treat for Healey fans, especially since they had no idea that these songs even existed.
