Dave Kilminster - ...And The Truth Will Set You Free...
.
You may not recognize the name right off but you may very well be more than familiar with Kilminster's work; the guitarist played on Roger Waters' mammoth "The Wall Live" and "The Dark Side of the Moon Live" tours, has featured in Keith Emerson's band and also played alongside luminaries like Carl Palmer, Geoff Downes and John Wetton. Opening cut "Messiah" is a smooth and proggy cut that showcases Kilminster's vocal chops more so than his guitar playing but on "Addict" Kilminster breaks out the slide to add ominous overtones to a cautionary tale about drugs; the song is not unlike something Foreigner might do when they're in a mellow mood. Kilminster's guitar work is more sublime than showy throughout and he gives drummer Pete Riley plenty of room on cuts like the delicate "Circles" and the jazzy "Fallen." There's a lot to like here; Dave has a very pleasing voice, the musicianship is stellar and there's even a little Pink Floyd carryover in closing cut "Stardust."
