The fashion is what you could expect from an impeccably dressed hobo on the run from a Hollywood Hills hippie commune.
That goes a long way in describing the band's sound as well. The Washington D.C. foursome has more in common with sunny Southern California rock such as Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles than with any band coming out of D.C.
On the bright side, U.S. Royalty appears less coked up than Fleetwood Mac and less of an ass than Don Henley. But that is mere conjecture on my part.
The music is slick and shimmery like Mac's pop hits. Mirrors receives a polished production befitting any band with big time aspirations. Almost too slick. That's a small complaint given the overall quality of the songs.
Hollywood Hollows is the natural track to lead with and the likely hit. It is indicative of the rest of the record. U.S. Royalty swagger when they think they should swagger and swoon when they think they should swoon. It's paint by numbers, but they do it well.
If they keep pushing they may start painting their own works.
