Steven Seagal - Mojo Priest Review

by Sherrill Fulghum

.
Another one of Hollywood's musical actors, 55 year old Steven Seagal began his martial arts training at age seven and started playing the guitar at 12. It wasn't until after some influence from his mother to share his music with the world that fans knew Seagal had more talents than just for acting and beating people up on screen.

Seagal first appeared on the big screen in 1988 when he starred in "Above the Law" a movie he co-wrote. It wasn't until 1997 when Seagal appeared as Environmental Protection Agency Agent Jack Taggart in "Fire Down Below" that he first displayed his musical ability. Since then Seagal has contributed a number of compositions to his movies.

Unlike his debut CD "Songs from the Crystal Cave" which is a collection of eclectic tunes, Seagal returns to his musical love for the blues on his latest CD "Mojo Priest". Considered a blues purist Seagal has jammed with some of the greatest blues legends. Blues man Bo Diddley joins Seagal on a number in "Mojo Priest" a collection of 17 straight up Delta Blues pieces. Seagal carries a tune well and the blues is well suited to Seagal's voice and besides that Steven Seagal can play a "mean" guitar!

Far from what fans of Seagal's movies might expect, Steven Seagal's music is as sound as his moves and well worth the listen.
