Soulidium - Children of Chaos Review

by J Simpson

.
Very frightening, that's the only thing I could think of to describe Soulidium after I pulled up their myspace page and seeing them. They looked eerily like something from a Steven King movie. I had to run and hide in my closet for a few minutes till I gathered uo the courage to go out and shove their new CD into my player. I soon discovered that they didn't sound near as scary as they looked.

Soulidium is a metal/hardrock band fronted by Michael McKnight with the quintessential history of any great rock band, struggles in finding the right members, homelessness, financial problems, till they had to sell all of their automobiles but one just so they could relocate from Florida to their drummers hometown of Springfield Missouri where in June 2007 they released their first effort Children of Chaos. The only problem with that rock n roll fairy tale is unfortunately Soulidium isn't a great rock band. They're mediocre at best. The 11 tracks and 1 intro on this album all kind of blend together after a few listens with only a couple tracks that show promise and that you remember(which may be a good thing) like Live Forever or Drama which sounds like a poor mans Korn. Melodic nu-metal with the power ballad here and there, its all been done before and just feels like a bad rerun. I'm sure that with a lot of money and a bunch of promotion Soulidium could have a few of these tracks on the radio but that's not saying much since most radio sucks now days for that exact reason.
