Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, and Mickey Madden began playing together in junior high school and formed a band Kara's Flowers that with the addition of James Valentine and Ryan Dusick became Maroon 5. After he developed arm problems Matt Flynn took over the drumming duties from Ryan.
Maroon 5 burst onto the music scene with their debut album "Songs About Jane". Lead singer Adam Levine's voice along with the band's sound makes them instantly and distinctly recognizable. The two time Grammy winning band became the first band to have a song recognized as platinum via internet download with their first single "This Love". Maroon 5 celebrated their tenth anniversary as a band by having "Songs About Jane" go platinum. Since then the album has gone four times platinum and gold or platinum in 35 countries. To date Maroon 5 has sold 10 million albums worldwide.
After opening for artists like The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder and releasing a couple of live sets Maroon 5 members took over the Houdini mansion in Laurel Canyon to work on songs for their new album "It won't Be Soon Before Long". While the mansion is reported to be haunted Jesse and James actually lived in the house.
Already reaching number one on the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as on iTunes, Maroon 5 did not disappoint their fans. "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" is a collection of 12 tunes that range from the soft ballads to rock songs including "Kiwi" which is a hard rock piece complete with screaming guitar parts.
"It Won't Be Soon Before Long" is rooted in what the band has always been different; right down to the band's name which origins and meaning band members claim is a secret known only to themselves and the singing piano man Billy Joel.
