Beatallica - Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band Review

My brain is exploding. Beatallica is a picture perfect combination of all things Beatles and Metallica. It would be easy to dismiss Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band as a silly novelty record that might get a few plays on Dr. Demento's radio show. With vocalist "Jaymz Lennfield's" Hetfield/Kool-Aid Man voice and lyrical obsession with booze, that would be an understandable dismissal.
However, Beatallica's instrumental skills and the flawless weaving of Metallica riffs and Beatle melodies is down right astounding. Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band is 13 tracks of each of the band's best-known songs mashed together. The song titles say everything. "Blackened the U.S.S.R.", "Helvester of Skelter", "Leper Madonna", "Hey Dude" and "And Justice for All My Loving" are just a few examples from this maniac band.
Beatallica's attention to detail is tremendous. Those details carry the album. The way the riff to "Enter Sandman" seams into the Beatles' "Taxman" or how the intro to "Helter Skelter" falls into the main riff of "Harvester of Sorrow" are tremendous examples of the musical twists and turns to be found on Sgt. Hetfield's.
The musical cunning is necessary because, frankly, the vocals and lyrics wear thin quickly. Grab Sgt. Hetfield's Motorbreath Pub Band. If anything, it is a quaint excursion from the no-fun metal songs that are curdling your milk right now.
