Record Producer Tom Werman, the man behind the knobs on Motley Crues Shout at the Devil, Theater of Pain and Girls, Girls, Girls albums is now suing the band and their record label for unpaid royalties.
Werman filed a lawsuit against the band and their record label, Beyond Music, in the Los Angeles branch of the California Superior Court seeking damages of over $400,000, plus interest, attorney's fees, and court costs.
Werman claims that the group has breached their agreement with him by willfully withholding money and financial statements, according to a report by Yahoos Launch Media.
Werman a noted A&R man and record producer is credited with signing Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, REO Speedwagon, and Boston to at Epic Records in the 70s and producing albums for not only Motley Crue but Cheap Trick, Nugent, Dokken, L.A. Guns, Poison, and Twisted Sister, among others.
The antiSPIN: Wouldnt it be funny if the Crue turned around and sued Werman for allowing them to release Theatre of Pain and Girls, Girls, Girls, two albums that Nikki Sixx admits were sub par in the bands autobiography The Dirt?
Imagine now the scene as the band hears about the lawsuit (a note from our lawyer -celebrity personalities impersonated solely for comedic value, not to reflect the actual response from the Motley dudes).
(The scene, we find our Motley Heroes sitting on a dirty couch in the living room of the Motley House, surrounded by empty alcohol containers and assorted paraphernalia.)
Vince: That bastard Werman is suing us for royalties for Theatre and Girls!
Tommy: Dude, we paid him. Doesnt the dude know we havent sold any of those CDs since 1989?
Nikki: I died dude!
Vince: Wheres Mick?
Tommy: Dude, I saw him a few minutes ago in the yard dude, he was like dude, Mick Mars phone home, dude like he was ET or something.
Vince: Yeah, the dude thinks hes an alien.
Nikki: dude, did I ever tell you the story of when I died dude?
Vince: Shut up, Nikki!
Tommy: Dude, how are we gonna pay that Werner dude 400 thousand bones, Micks social security check wont cover it! Maybe you could cut back on the big macs dude.
Vince: Screw you dude, I lost a hundred pounds!
Mick (as he walks in): Vince! Did you take my social security check to buy big macs again!
Vince: No way dude!
Tommy (to Mick): Dude, Vince just told me he lost 100 pounds Dude! (laughs)
Mick (turns to Vince): So what do you weigh now, 250?
Vince: Screw you dude! Im serious; Tom Werman is suing us for royalties!
Mick: I dont have any money, my ex-wives took it all!
Tommy: Dude call some of your alien dude friends to come kill the Werman dude!
Nikki: I died dude!
Vince: Nikki, didnt you hear us, Tom Werman is suing us for $400 thousand bucks!?!
Nikki: Thats it, hes gonna die dude!
