Billy Joel surprised fans during his concert last Saturday (3-9-02) in Tampa, Florida when he invited members of AC/DC on stage to jam a version of the AC/DC classic Highway to Hell.
During the concert Joel began complaining to the crowd about the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame snubbing of AC/DC and then gave the audience a special surprise when he brought out AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson and bassist Cliff Williams to jam the legendary hard rock groups Highway to Hell, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
Joel may be known for his piano man role but prior to hitting it big as a solo artist he was the frontman for Attila, a hard rock duo that released one album on Epic records in 1970. The album ultimately failed, which led Joel to a short stint as a lounge piano player at the Executive Room in Los Angeles. That experience inspired Joel to pen one of his first big hit songs Piano Man.
Joel is currently on a co-headlining tour
of North America with Elton John. AC/DC recently released a full-length
home concert video Stiff Upper Lip Live. Word has it that AC/DC plan
to begin work on a new studio album soon.
