Life is stranger than fiction. First, Jack-in-the-Box took a shot at the boy band phenomenon with their fictitious boy group the "Meat and Cheesy Boys". Now Burger King is doing them one better and getting the kings of cheesy boy bands to promote their fast food.

A few months ago Burger King ran a major promotion aimed at getting young boys to convince their parents to buy Burger King kids meals with a Poke' Man give away. Now they are after the little girls with a new Backstreet Boys Promotion.

That's right little girls will soon be dragging their parents out for microwave hamburgers, fries, and soda's so they can also buy a special Backstreet Boys promotional video and Cd.

The Kings of Bubble gum pop have signed a deal that makes Burger King the exclusive sponsor of their 2000 fall tour. In exchange the fast food chain will get a licence to sell a video with behind the scenes footage of the group plus a cd featuring live tracks and a advanced single from the groups next album due later this year.

The monetary details of the deal have not been disclosed but you can be sure the numbers are big. The Back$treet Boy$ have proven themselves smart enough to cash in as much as possible before their fifteen minutes of fame are up.

So what was meant as a humorous marketing ploy for Jack-in-the-Box has turned into a gold mine for Burger King.  What's next? A Britney Spears' Happy Meal?
