Singled Out: The Kontroversy's In the Indies
. ![]() The Kontroversy's Kevin Sanders tells us about the inspiration behind the song "In The Indies", which is a track from their brand new album "Armoudale". Here is the story: This song, "In the Indies" is from a musical I have written, based on stories told to me by my parents of events that occurred when they were growing up living across the street from each other in a section of Kansas City, Kansas, called "Armourdale." The story begins during the great depression of the 1930s, and ends in 1951, when the worst flood in Kansas City's history devastated the area and my parents had to leave. My band, "The Kontroversy", has released a CD of the songs from the musical, titled "Armourdale." Accompanying the CD is a booklet that includes the lyrics to the songs and a brief description of what is happening in the story when each song is sung. At the part of the story when this song is performed, my Dad is in the Navy. The crew has received their orders to go to Panama, but one of the sailors would prefer to go to the West Indies. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself here and learn more about the album right here!
