Ripp Flamez Celebrates Cleveland Cavaliers With New Track
.
(Audible Treats) Cleveland rapper Ripp Flamez is celebrating the Cavaliers taking it to the top as the NBA finals tip off with the release of a new track entitled "LeBron Flamez.". Debuted by Complex, the single is a trap banger that precedes his forthcoming album, DayOne Forever. Along with the project announcement last month, Ripp Flamez previously released the WorldStarHipHop-premiered the video for "Wavez," a single from the project with more than 230K SoundCloud plays. In March, he released the video for "Payback," featuring BFA Bleed, which accumulated over 50,000 views on YouTube and over 123,000 plays on SoundCloud. Reflecting on the similarities between the impact that Lebron has had on the city in sports and the impact that he aspires to have on the city in music, Ripp Flamez says: "In a way, we're all looking for Lebron and the Cavs to bring us a victory because ultimately if they win, we win. It'll change the energy in the city. Sort of the same with me, but on a smaller scale, Cleveland has been longing for something to be proud of, something we can brag about... I can honestly say that before Lebron there was no hope or sense of any type of success in the city, at least not for me. He changed the dynamics, he gave the city a sense of hope and a f*** load of confidence, especially me! He made me believe we can really make this a place people f*** with." Born in the Garden Valley Projects, one of Cleveland's roughest areas, Ripp Flamez found himself alone after his father died and his brother got locked up. Flamez channels his struggle and brings his experience to life through his rhymes. In 2014, Flamez released DayOne, which took off in Cleveland behind the success of "Morning After," his single with P The Artist. "Some artists may have content and substance and others may just have melodies, rhythm, and good production," explains Ripp Flamez. "I have both, along with a unique voice and an organic fan base." Named Best New Artist in the 2015 Ohio Hip-Hop Awards, Ripp Flamez looks to bring his infectious melodicism and confessional lyrics to a national audience with DayOne Forever, slated to release this summer.
