Banks and Steelz Talk Florence Welch Collaboration
. ![]() (Radio.com) Banks and Steelz, the new project from Interpol's Paul Banks and RZA, will be dropping their album Anything But Words at the end of August and they are particularly excited about a song they did with Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine. RZA described the collab, "Wild Season," as one of the record's "strong songs" in a new interview with NME. Anything But Words features lots of rap names, but Welch is the only vocalist. It turns out she ran into Banks when he was wrapping up a tour last year and the two saw creative possibilities in working together. "Interpol was on tour last year and our final show was in Ireland," he said. "And as I got off stage, she approached me and she was super-sweet and friendly. So we talked and exchanged information, and then I kind of circled back to her." Banks said he and RZA sent her the song they wanted to collaborate on and she liked it. "It was a great, very smooth kind of process, discussing with her the themes and the lyric," he said. "And then she killed it once she got in the studio-she just f-ing killed it." Read more here.
