Singled Out: Indiana Grace's Lose Count
.
LA based pop singer and songwriter Indiana Grace is preparing to release her debut EP and we asked her to tell us about her recently released single "Lose Count". Here is the story: I wrote the song "lose count" on a night I felt very lonely. I turned on some candles sat at my piano and started to play around with some chords. I started humming some melodies over them and scribbled down my feelings and thoughts. It had almost been two and a half months since I last saw my boyfriend and it was really starting to take a toll on me. At the time, a lot of my girlfriends had boyfriends and were constantly with them, which really didn't help my loneliness. The only time I got to speak to my boyfriend was sometimes on Skype since I was living in Boston and busy with college in the day, and he was in Nashville perusing his music career and working in the evenings. I remember so well the moment when we gathered enough money to see each other. As soon as the flights were booked I set a countdown clock on my phone with a picture of us, telling me how much time I had to wait to be back in his arms again. When we finally saw each other it was like a very special date and the whole world seemed brighter and for a brief moment it felt like time stood still. He was my first real love and I had never felt such strong feelings for someone. Throughout our long distance relationship, I had friends, family and strangers tell me what I should be doing. Some were very supportive of the decision we had made; others thought it was ridiculous and bound to fail. Although I hadn't asked anyone for their opinion, I kept receiving their views on my love life. The whole song is about people telling me how I should deal with it, and me telling them that nothing mattered because the feelings I felt when I was with him were greater than any sadness I felt when we were apart. The song is about losing count of time when one is in love and that true love that can endure anything no matter the obstacles. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself right here!
