Aerosmith's Joe Perry Streaming New Solo Song
. Producer Jack Douglas hooked Perry up with Reid, someone he's been a fan of for decades. "Terry wasn't that big here in the States in the late 60s," Perry tells Classic Rock, "but I had friends who would go to England every summer and bring back piles of albums, and so I was lucky enough to know about him and when I heard him I thought his voice was incredible. So he came in and we got to know each other a little bit and played some tunes, and wrote some songs, and he was just great to work with." Reid's own legacy includes an offer from Jimmy Page in 1968 to join him in The New Yardbirds - which went on to become Led Zeppelin. The singer was committed to opening dates on a US tour for Cream, and suggested Page contact Robert Plant for the gig. While juggling the solo project alongside his duties with the Alice Cooper-led supergroup The Hollywood Vampires, Perry says he felt the need to put out some new music of his own. "I'm excited to get it out there," he explains. "I had a really great time just hanging with Terry, he's a really 'up' guy, and he's a class act in the studio; he writes the lyrics on the spot and he just nails the vocals. "And so I wanted to get something out there for people to hear. I haven't actually decided how I'm going to release some of this music, because I don't really know if putting out an album is the right way to go, if people don't buy albums the way they used to."
