Singled Out: Eat the Gun's Howlinwood
. I always wanted to write a song that is dedicated to my love for being a musician. It's hard to do that without coming up with something that sounds rather cheesy or self-absorbed. So I tried to find something that describes the unique atmosphere music creates. Like most times, inspiration surprised me with a fantasy name: Howlinwood. I thought about its meaning for a while and found it to be great name for an imaginary city where music is the center of all things. I asked myself why I would want to live in Howlinwood and came up with a simple rhyme that later became the song's chorus: "Take me to Howlinwood, where the music plays and life is good". To me music is like a parallel universe or a second world I inhabit. It's a great place to hang out because everyday life just fades away and there's nothing else but music to care about. The lyrics mainly deal with the realities of everyday life like unfulfilled dreams, the lack of freedom, or the striving for independence. All the things that make us want to break out and run free sometimes. It doesn't matter if you're a musician or a music fan, we're all addicted to this special atmosphere that only music is able to create. It sets you freeok, this definitely sounds a little cheesy but it's simply true. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!
