InTheStudio Remember George Harrison With Best Of Special
. Fourteen years ago this week the world lost George Harrison. Countless rock writers have tried to define the late George Harrison for a long time now as the 19 year old guitarist from Liverpool in an exciting new band in 1963; the Beatle who persuaded the other band members to visit India and study meditation and religion; the first Beatle to release a solo album and the first to have it top the charts. George Harrison the Humanitarian as the architect of the Concert for Bangladesh; George the indie film producer; Harrison the comeback kid with his 1987 smash solo album Cloud Nine; as Nelson Wilbury and his superstar band of five rhythm guitar players; Harrison the devoted husband and a father. George was all these things and so much more. InTheStudio has consolidated several interviews with George Harrison in a special two-part "Best of" program. Speaking to InTheStudio host Redbeard, Harrison relates his own struggles for relevancy to others trying to live normal lives. "People tend to write you off, it's a bit silly because after all the time we've been around, you'd think I must know something by now. So I always felt confident that if I wanted to do something and do it right, I could eventually. I like to put some words in songs that if anyone is out there listening, that it can give them a bit hope to. You know, it's like also saying 'don't worry its only a bit of time and if you keep on truckin' we'll be ok.' " - George Harrison Stream part 1 here and part 2 here. ITS submitted this story. |
