(Gibson) As collaborations go, The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach is aiming high. His new band, The Arcs, have confirmed their first release with both piano legend Dr. John and Los Lobos' David Hidalgo on-board.

A six-track, limited-edition 10-inch LP, The Arcs vs. The Inventors Vol. 1, is out November 27 as part of Record Store Day's Black Friday event. The release, the first in an ongoing collaborative series under The Arcs name, will be out digitally December 11.

"Sometimes the best way to see into the future is to study the past," Auerbach says in a statement announcing the project. "In this series, we do both, collaborating with folks who have been in the game a long time but instead of rehashing old material, we collaborate on new works, explore new ideas and introduce each other to a different generational perspective."
