Third Man Announced Limited Edition Jay-Z Release
. (Radio.com) It may not be the Jack White/Jay Z collaboration that fans have been hoping for, but it is pretty cool. White's Third Man Records is giving Jay's most recent album, 2013's Magna Carta Holy Grail, a vinyl reissue. This being Third Man, it won't just be any vinyl reissue. The label has previously put out liquid-filled vinyl, a single with rose pedals inside a record, and records pressed with gold and platinum (The Great Gatsby soundtrack, which was executive produced by Jay Z). Third Man also won a GRAMMY earlier this year for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package for their box set The Rise & Fall Of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-27). So for the Magna Carta release, they're going all out. The album won't be cut on an LP; rather it will be a box set of eight 7-inch 45-rpm records, kept in a clothbound binder. Scratch-off boxes within the pages of the binder will reveal photos and lyrics (leading to a conundrum to Third Man addicts who collect everything: do you scratch them off, or does that decrease the value of the box set?).
