Fans Can Now 3D-Print Their Very Own Paul McCartney
. (Radio.com) The world has no shortage of Beatles memorabilia, but what about 3D-printed memorabilia? Not so much. So Paul McCartney decided to offer up a new kind of figurine of himself: one made by the new frontier technology of object-making. The figurine is almost the most recent rendering of Macca since it was made just last year when he was filming his "Hope for the Future" music video. While on set, McCartney has to have a full body scan to appear as a hologram. That 3D scan is now the blueprint for McCartney's latest figurine. "One of the technologies we've been excited by in recent years is 3D printing, named by some as the 'Third Industrial Revolution'," says a press statement on the figurine. "The thinking here is that in the coming years we will all begin to see 3D printed objects appearing in our daily lives creating items such as machine parts, bone and limb replacements, clothing and even food. It is no overstatement to say the possibilities are pretty much endless!" Read more here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
