Lynyrd Skynyrd Reveal Peter Frampton's Take On 'Call Me The Breeze'
. Originally released by Cale in 1972, Skynyrd covered the tune on their 1974 album, "Second Helping." The record peaked at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 2 million in the States alone. "We've known each other on a very close level," Frampton tells Billboard. "We've known each other through thick and thin, literally. We've played many, many concerts together. And we went through their (1977) air disaster together because my crew was off the road with me and had joined Lynyrd Skynyrd for that tour. "It's just always been a pleasure to do anything with them, and I enjoyed the whole experience of doing that tribute show. It was much more of a family experience for me, that whole day." Frampton was just one of several guests to perform at the 2014 event, which saw performances by Lynyrd Skynyrd and Trace Adkins, Alabama, Gregg Allman, Blackberry Smoke, Charlie Daniels, Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes, John Hiatt and many more.
