Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath Death Report A Hoax

(Radio.com) If you missed it on Thursday morning (Feb. 26), word spread via a press release that Sugar Ray leader Mark McGrath had been killed on set while filming TBS' Hot Package, where he was shot by a masked gunman, left to die in the arms of his co-host Derrick Beckles. Thankfully, this story has turned out to be a weird publicity stunt by someone presumably involved with the show. Maybe the first tip-off should have been the bizarre request laid out in the press release: "In honor of Mr. McGrath's legacy, his team is asking in lieu of flowers, fans post a Sugar Ray Selfie, holding a packet of sugar over their heart. #RIPMARKMCGRATH" USA Today has done some tracking on the events, discovering that TBS was in the dark on the events, and the publicity company responsible for the email, We Are Prismatics, isn't affiliated with the show.
