(hennemusic) Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have announced a 2016 North American tour in support of a newly-issued 7-disc box set marking the 35th anniversary of the 1980 double-album.

A nine-week series of shows promoting the box set will begin January 16 in Pittsburgh, PA and wrap up with two Los Angeles dates in mid-March. Each night of the tour will be mixed for release on Live.BruceSpringsteen.net as high-quality downloads and CDs, with recordings available within days of each performance.

"The Ties That Bind: The River Collection" presents the original record alongside "The River: Single Album" - originally named "The Ties That Bind" - a 10-track album that Springsteen recorded in 1979 as a follow up to 1978's "Darkness On The Edge Of Town" but never released.

The 4CD/3DVD package also includes 22 outtakes from the studio sessions alongside an hour-long documentary/interview with Springsteen and a legendary 1980 concert filmed at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.

"The River" earned Springsteen his first No. 1 US album on the Billboard 200 on its way to sales of more than 5 million copies in the States alone. See the dates here.
