Beyonce Move To Be Studied At Harvard

(Radio.com) Harvard Business School will release a case study this week examining Beyonce's surprise album release from December of 2013. The venerable institution is set to examine "what it took to pull off the ambitious and costly campaign, the prevailing market conditions, the structural and technical obstacles, as well as the many difficult decisions Beyonc� and her management team confronted along the way," the Harvard Gazette reports.

Those MBAs had access to top execs at Parkwood Entertainment (Beyonc�'s management company), Columbia Records, Facebook and Apple - the latter being the sole distribution portal the album was available for purchase on upon release.

The case study will address questions about what the release means for the future of marketing in the music industry, who else might successfully employ this model and how it served Beyonc�'s artistic intentions.
