Singled Out: The Rabid Whole's Don't Stop Now
. I started writing the music for the verses with the crazy, 'don't-even-know-what-style'/'you'll-know-what-I'm-talking-about-when-you-hear-it' beat a few years ago (around the time we were recording our previous album 'Refuge') but didn't know what to do with it at the time... I though it was pretty groovy but I just didn't have 'what it needed' in me to finish the rest yet. It wasn't its time yet. Last year we went through a hard year of heavy touring and dealt a lot of bullsh*t, internally & externally. Things got pretty hard for us and we didn't know how we felt about the future. A lot of trust was lost in relationships, we faced a lot of resistance from the industry and we just didn't know where to go from there. Sometimes you spend a lot of time & energy trying to make everyone happy and the result is the exact opposite. The pressure can build so high you just want to run away, escape and say 'f*** it' to everything. You find that in the end this is for you and to stop getting caught up in giving a sh*t about what anyone else thinks. I'm making what I want to make and I don't care if people/industry have a hard time 'getting' it. In the end, it is YOU and only YOU that's in your way of accomplishing the things you want to do. No matter what other so-called 'important' people tell you. I sat down in late 2013, full of emotion & fire to write. The rest of the song ended up coming together pretty fast. I was inspired. The guitar lines were full of energy and a certain level of 'bad-assery'. The electronics created a cool, sinister tone. We decided that it would be a nice, different touch to have Chalsey lead the vocals. This song was exactly how I felt and I had created a sort of 'manifesto' to myself on how I was going to deal with the near future. I realized it was up to me to create my opportunities and to take myself where I wanted to go. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and watch the video here and learn more about the band, the EP and grab their tour dates right here!
