(hennemusic) Guitarist Joe Perry is sharing a preview of his forthcoming memoir, "Rocks: My Life In And Out Of Aerosmith." Due October 7, Perry opens up for the first time about the wild, inside story of his life in the legendary band he co-founded in 1970.

In "Rocks", Perry reveals that he considers Steven Tyler family, despite the fights the two have had through the years. "He's the brother I never had, which is a lot of the basis for our dynamics," Perry tells Billboard.

"[The other band members] play an important part in mediating. Though when push comes to shove, when the two of us are in a room and it gets down to the real nitty-gritty, we have to deal with it ourselves. That's what makes it exciting."

Perry also shares his thoughts on groupies, and the travels of a wayward guitar that he sold to fund his Joe Perry Project venture back in the 70s. Read more here.
