Kenny Wayne Shepherd Didn't Want To Cover a Stevie Ray Vaughan
. He met Vaughan when he was just seven years old, and he's remained influenced for his entire career. But Shepherd tells the Coventry Telegraph: "Some people have said, 'He's trying to fill his shoes.' It was never my intention. There will only be one Stevie Ray Vaughan." That's why he considered avoiding playing any of his hero's songs on last year's album Goin' Home. "My drummer, Chris Layton, used to play with Stevie. He looked at me and said, 'How can you make an album of your biggest influences and not have him?'
