. The album continues to sell to this day and when the numbers were tallied for the week ending May 25th, additional sales of 3,000 copies pushed the album past the 16 million mark. Metallica's album claimed the honor as the best selling album of the SoundScan era back on December 20th, 2009 when its sales surpassed Shania Twain's "Come On Over."
