Coldplay Debut At No. 1 With Biggest Opening Week of 2014
. "Ghost Stories" had opening week sales of 383,000 copies in the U.S., which beat this year's previous record of 288,000 copies for Eric Church's latest album "The Outsiders." While it was a big opening week of the band, the sales didn't measure up to their previous two debuts. The band have had four no. 1 albums and their previous two albums sold over 700,000 copies their first week, according to The Celebrity Caf. Last week's No. 1 album, The Black Keys' "Turn Blue" dropped to No. 5 with sales of 54,000 during its second week of release. Michael Jackson's "Xscape" dropped one spot to No. 3 with 67,000 copies sold during its second week. More details here. Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
