Country music star Mickey Gilley is hitting the road today, kicking off a new tour after recovering from a tragic accident in 2009 that left him paralyzed.

Gilley was helping his friend move when a sofa landed on top of him and crushed four vertebrae causing him to be paralyzed from the neck down. Now after several years of intense physical therapy he returns to the stage and is now walking, singing and performing.

"I have always loved performing and I know nothing else," says Mickey Gilley. "Getting back on stage in all of these cities is something to look forward to each and every day.

"The outpour of love and concern from the fans, my fellow artist friends, and the music community has kept me fighting to walk back on that stage, so I am glad that time is finally here."

Gilley's new tour is spaced out with a few shows each month from now until July. The trek is kicking off tonight at the Cherokee Casino in Claremore, OK with a show tomorrow night in West Siloam Springs, OK. He plays Illinois and Texas next month, Nevada and Iowa in May, three shows in Texas in June, and in July he has shows scheduled in Lancaster, PA, Biloxi and wrapping things up on July 30th in Shreveport.
