(Radio.com) As Robert Plant prepares for the release of lullaby and The Ceaseless Roar, he's debuted the first song from the album, his first since 2010′s Band of Joy.

"Rainbow," the album's first single, is out today and currently streaming via the former Led Zeppelin frontman's YouTube page. Compared to some of Zeppelin's more rocking material, "Rainbow" is subdued in comparison, though it's still unmistakably a Plant record. Alongside guitar and driving percussion, Plant sings about "singing my song for you / and I will carry on" as a chorus of "ooh"s rise in the background.

"Rainbow" precedes the release of lullaby by a few months; the record, out on Nonesuch/Warner Bros., will be out Sept. 9 and features 11 new songs; all but two were written by Plant and his band.

"It's really a celebratory record, powerful, gritty, African, Trance meets Zep," Plant said in a statement. "The whole impetus of my life as a singer has to be driven by a good brotherhood. I am very lucky to work with The Sensational Space Shifters. They come from exciting areas of contemporary music I have been around awhile and I ask myself, do I have anything to say? Is there a song still inside me? In my heart? I see life and what's happening to me. Along the trail there are expectations, disappointments, happiness, questions and strong relationships and now I'm able to express my feelings through melody, power and trance; together in a kaleidescope of sound, colour, and friendship."
