U.S. Soccer Star Clint Dempsey Releasing Rap Album
. The Wall Street Journal reports that the U.S. Men's Soccer Team's captain will release a full-length record of hip-hop tunes sometime after the World Cup ends. Dempsey, who raps under the name Deuce, originally put out a song, "Don't Tread," prior to the World Cup eight years ago in a partnership with Nike. However, rather than be a one-off athlete-turned-musician, the soccer star went into the studio during the off-season to cut even more music, enough for a full album. "We just were having fun with it and it ended up being an album," Dempsey told WSJ of the record, deemed The Redux, recorded in Los Angeles and totaling 13 tracks. According to the producer of The Redux, don't necessarily look down on the album just because it's by a soccer star and not a bona fide major label rapper. "people automatically expect it to not be good," Mike Chehad, the album's executive producer, said. "I'm not saying he's Eminem, but he's definitely qualified." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
