Jason Mraz Had Surreal First Time
. "I was in Australia in a rental car," he told Radio.com. "I was on the opposite side of the road, I was on the opposite side of the car and I was about to return the car and I heard my song on the radio. My reaction was, 'Oh I better take this CD out before I return the car.' Almost instantly I remembered, 'I don't have my CD in there. This is really happening.'" He added: "I was in another country, I was in another lane. All of it just seemed backwards to me. I also felt still a bit, 'Oh, I should put my windows up because I don't want people to see me rocking out to my own tune.' As if anyone would know it was me anyway." Mraz said hearing his song on the radio for the first time in Australia was his own "little private moment of joy." He said he doesn't sing along when he hears his music on the radio, instead he's listening intently. "You work so hard on the recording that once it comes out, you tend to stray from the recording and move onto new stuff or only play it live. But when it comes on the radio I like to turn it up and listen intently and then see how it feels bookended by the other songs on the radio," he said. "For the past 12 years that I've been hearing my songs on the radio, I am continuously surprised that they're even on the radio." more on this story Radio.com is an official news provider for antiMusic.com.
