Led Zeppelin Reissuing IV and Houses of the Holy This Fall (A Top Story)

.
On Wednesday Led Zeppelin Reissuing IV and Houses of the Holy This Fall was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) Led Zeppelin just announced the second phase of their reissue campaign, and up next will be deluxe reissues of the band's untitled fourth album (often referred to as "IV"), originally released in 1971, and the follow-up, 1973's Houses of the Holy. Both reissues will be available on Oct. 28.

All of the reissues were supervised by Zeppelin's guitarist and producer Jimmy Page. As with the reissues of the first three albums, he worked to make sure that none of the bonus material has seen the light of day before.

As Page told Radio.com, "I left no stone unturned. I was even checking out whatever had come out on bootleg that had leaked out of studios in the past - not by us, I might add. But I wanted to make sure that the material that I was going to present was not out already on bootleg."

Zeppelin IV is the third best-selling album in U.S. history, and has been certified 23 times platinum. The LP features a number of classics, including "Rock and Roll," "Black Dog," "Misty Mountain Hop" and, of course, "Stairway to Heaven." The deluxe edition will include unreleased versions of every song heard on the original album including alternate mixes of "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Four Sticks," mixes of "The Battle Of Evermore" and "Going To California" with extra guitar and mandolin, and an alternate version of "Stairway To Heaven."

The fact that this reissue has a release date indicates that the lawsuit that was filed against Led Zeppelin by the trust of late Spirit songwriter Randy California to prevent the re-release of "IV" has not deterred the band or their label, Rhino Records from moving forward with the reissue campaign.

The 11-times-platinum Houses of the Holy reissue will include "rough and working mixes" of "The Ocean" and "Dancing Days," as well as a version of "The Rain Song" without the song's distinct piano.

Each reissue will be available in several formats (as was the case for the reissues of the first three albums, which were released in June): as a single CD (with no bonus tracks), a deluxe double CD (containing all the bonus tracks), a single LP, a double LP, a digital download and a "super deluxe boxed set" including all of the above material on both CD and LP, with a hi-def audio download card, as well as a hard bound 80-page book with rare and previously unseen photos and memorabilia.
